SO.....the MCE Insurance British Superbike season is over, and what a year it's been.
I don't think I've ever seen such an exciting and dramatic climax to a season as the one we witnessed at Brands Hatch on Sunday afternoon.
The atmosphere was electric, the crowd fantastic and that last lap between Swan Yamaha's Tommy Hill and the Samsung Crescent Suzuki of John Hopkins is doubtlessly one we will see for decades to come as an example of taking it right to the wire.

RYUICHI Kiyonari has won the today's first MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship race at Oulton Park.
The reigning champ was clearly looking to make amends after a troubled start to the weekend as he scorched through the field to take his 10th victory at the Cheshire circuit.
Second man home was American hero John Hopkins, while Hawick's Stuart Easton crossed the line third.

SHANE "Shakey" Byrne smashed the Brands Hatch Indy lap record this afternoon with a hotlap of 45.112secs around the Kent track.
The two-times BSB champion had already proved himself to be the fastest man on two wheels around the circuit a lap previous when he knocked his HM Plant Honda team-mate Ryuichi Kiyonari down to P2 with a 45.171.
But the local hero still had a little bit left in the tank as he knocked in a second fast lap, this time clocking the 45.112, a time which was to go unbeaten with just 26 seconds of the session remaining.

REIGNING MCE Insurance British Superbike Champion Ryuichi Kiyonari has spoken of his shock at the devastating earthquake and tsunami in his home country, Japan.
The HM Plant Honda star hails from from Saitama, just 30 minutes outside of Tokyo.
He flew back to the UK from Japan a few weeks ago in preparation for the forthcoming racing season and last week he was joined by his wife Madoka, and son Kouma.
RYUICHI Kiyonari and Tommy Hill will this weekend lead the title fighters into Croft Circuit as the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship enters The Showdown.
The pair are the joint leaders in the series now, but are only one point clear of Josh Brookes, who will be looking to dominate this weekend as the series roars into Burning Rubber's local track for Round 10.
The action in the country's premier series is now entering the "Showdown" phase, with six riders - "the title-fighters" - all in close contention going into the final seven races and three rounds.
