SO.....the MCE Insurance British Superbike season is over, and what a year it's been.
I don't think I've ever seen such an exciting and dramatic climax to a season as the one we witnessed at Brands Hatch on Sunday afternoon.
The atmosphere was electric, the crowd fantastic and that last lap between Swan Yamaha's Tommy Hill and the Samsung Crescent Suzuki of John Hopkins is doubtlessly one we will see for decades to come as an example of taking it right to the wire.
TOMMY Hill starts from pole for today's MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship race at Brands Hatch after shattering the lap record - while local boy Graeme Gowland leads the Evo class.
Hill secured the top spot at his local track with a hot lap of 1.26.360 onboard the Guisborough-based Swan Yamaha, ahead of this afternoon's race at the Grand Prix circuit.
And in the Mirror.co.uk BSB-Evo Championship, it was the WFR Honda of Gowland which was the cream of the crop, qualifying first in class and an impressive 10th overall.
NORTH boys Graeme Gowland and Barry Burrell are looking good for a great potential battle in tomorrow's two Mirror.co.uk BSB-Evo races at Thruxton.
Gowland of Allendale, Northumberland, arrived back with the WFR Honda squad this weekend after missing the first three rounds after breaking his wrist in the first race of the year at Brands Hatch.
And now he is keen to make up for lost time, and has been a consistent top three Evo runner since he jumped back on board yesterday morning.
LOCAL Evo hero Graeme Gowland has been forced to withdraw from this weekend's round at Croft Circuit.
The Allendale rider had hoped to make his comeback this weekend after breaking his wrist in a crash in the first race of the season at Brands Hatch.
But this afternoon he was devastated to have to pull out of his home round.

GRAEME Gowland has stamped his authority on the Mirror.co.uk BSB-Evo Championship after taking pole at Brands Hatch.
The Allendale rider and his Team WFR Honda team-mates Glen Richards and Alex Lowes have been the dominating force of the class all weekend.
Between the three of them they have locked-out the top three spots all weekend, with each of them taking the top spot at various points.
