Hill winner1.jpgSO.....the MCE Insurance British Superbike season is over, and what a year it's been.

I don't think I've ever seen such an exciting and dramatic climax to a season as the one we witnessed at Brands Hatch on Sunday afternoon.

The atmosphere was electric, the crowd fantastic and that last lap between Swan Yamaha's Tommy Hill and the Samsung Crescent Suzuki of John Hopkins is doubtlessly one we will see for decades to come as an example of taking it right to the wire.

CHRIS Burns will this weekend join the Metzeler National Superstock Championship as the series enters its penultimate round at Silverstone.

And the 29-year-old will share the tarmac with his younger brother Joe, 17, as the pair face each other on the track for the first time.

Other than sharing the odd trackday in previous seasons, the Geordie duo have never squared-off in a race, and tensions will no doubt run high as they each battle to better each other.

NEWCASTLE teenager Joe Burns and the Splitlath Motorsport team will see-out the remainder of the 2009 season in the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship.

Despite currently lying second in the Superstock 600 Championship, Burns has sensationally quit the series to concentrate his efforts on mastering the 1000cc Yamaha R1 machine.

And he will make his debut in the national championship this coming weekend at Brands Hatch.

The 17-year-old Geordie led from lights to flag in the first of today's two races at the mountain-top Scottish track.

And now he is hoping for more of the same in this afternoon's second race.

The 17-year-old from Westerhope suffered a difficult start to the weekend after crashing the Splitlath Motorsport Yamaha R6 during Saturday afternoon's first qualifying.

Unable to continue the session, and not having set a fast lap before he tipped off, the teenager was left languishing down in 25th ahead of today's final session.
