Ellison out with snapped femur
JAMES Ellison has broken his femur in a high-speed crash at Thruxton today.
The Kendal rider, who had quickly become one of the favourites to take the title in this year's MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship, lost control of his Swan Honda machine at the sweeping right-hand Goodwood section of the Hampshire circuit.
The crash saw him highside across the top and land heavily, and he was taken to hospital and diagnosed with a broken femur.
After making his return to Shaun Muir's Guisborough-based Swan Honda outfit, Ellison has been tipped for the title this season.
The 29-year-old won the second of the two races at the opening round at Brands Hatch on Easter Monday after a dominant ride which many described as his coming of age.
Ironically, it was Ellison's lap of 1.15:236s which was the fastest of the session.
This afternoon he was quick to update his facebook and twitter pages from his hospital bed, stating:
"Laying in hospital with a snapped femur!!! :( Gutted! Big thanks to the Thruxton medical staff an CJ Fund for keeping my spirits up...."
Get well soon James!!
