Fourth win for Crutchlow at Donington
CAL Crutchlow boosted his championship lead with a solid win at Donington Park - while main rival Eugene Laverty bounced back from an early crash to finish fifth.
Crutchlow dominated the 22-Lap race, taking an easy victory over Spaniard Joan Lascorz on the Kawasaki Motocard.com machine.
Third place was taken by popular Aussie Garry McCoy, on his ParkinGo Triumph BE1 Racing Daytona.
At the start, it was Lascorz who made it into Redgate first, with Crutchlow and Laverty close behind.
And although it looked like it would turn into another Cal versus Eugene scrap, the Durham-based Irishman's hopes of a home win went up in smoke on Lap Three when he crashed coming out of the Melbourne Hairpin on Lap Three.
With Laverty out of the way, it was easy pickings for Crutchlow, who soon capitalised and took the lead on Lap Six, and there he remained all the way to the chequered flag. The only change in the top three was McCoy, who passed the HANNSpree Ten Kate Honda of Kenan Sofuoglu into third on 12.
"It was nice to come here and take a win in front of home fans," said Crutchlow. "It was unfortunate that Eugene fell off, but all credit to him for getting back up to fifth.
"It was a hard race for me, very mentally challenging because it's difficult being out in front on your own. I kept thinking about the win and crossing the line, and I just wanted to get to the end."
Laverty, who had managed to get back on and rejoin the race, enjoyed a mammoth battle back through the field, coming through from 21st at one point, to finally cross the line fifth.
