Fancy a quick swish

By Trash Talk on Mar 18, 09 09:00 AM

I am a bloke who knows when it is time to buy new clothes once the old ones have holes in them.

But I am aware that some people have clothes that they could donate to others without dying of embarrassment.

If you are one of these people then SWISHING could be for you.

Swishing is getting together with friends to swop clothes, shoes and accessories, usually at a swishing party.

Here at Premier Waste Management we like to think of it as a clothes reuse scheme, although swishing sounds nicer.

Every party goer has to bring at least one item of clothing some parties then allow you to take whatever clothes, accessories or shoes take their fancy and some restrict your takeaway to the number of items you donated in the first place. So it is more complicated than a simple clothes swop, you might bring five items and leave with none or you might leave with fifteen. The differences in how the parties are organised makes it important to make sure everyone knows the rules at the start.

Given the economic downturn swishing should grow in popularity and it of course now has its own website: http://www.swishing.org/home/

You can download invites, read swishing tips and even publicise your swishing event.

The BBC broadcast have also hosted a series of clothes swapping parties. This has now been followed up by a series web pages and information packs that can be downloaded directly from the link below. http://www.bbc.co.uk/thread/twiggysfrockexchange/
