Blasts from the Past

By Two Point Four Children on Mar 22, 09 02:59 PM

It's amazing how many interesting people I come into contact with on a daily basis and also how many people crop up from the past... Sarah was asking me on the phone if I wanted to upgrade our office photocopier when I discovered she had another job which was rather unusual. She is a fire-eater...

Come to think of it, I've had quite a few blasts from the past lately...

First of all, I went to see 'The Taxi Driver's Daughter' at Live Theatre, Newcastle upon Tyne....and saw that one of my ex tutors from a Creative Writing Course I did at Northumbria University a few years back was performing in the play. She had also adapted the book by Julia Darling for a script in hand performance which was absolutely superb.

We chatted afterwards when she said she was hoping the play would eventually go on to be performed as a full production. I certainly hope so, I was especially fascinated by The Shoe Tree in Armstrong Park, Heaton which I didn't know existed.

Then at a meeting at work, I found myself sitting round the table with one of my teachers from my old Grammar School, a lovely lady who taught me hockey and French when I was fourteen. Astonishingly she said she did remember me even though my surname used to be Smith...

Then at an Educational Exhibition I discovered that one of the exhibitors and I knew each other but we didn't know where from. Turned out that we both used to perform in rival Amateur Dramatic Societies in the same town and had never met, but had watched each other on stage many times.

Back to Sarah. Whilst chatting and after telling her we didn't need a new photocopier, I discovered she was both hosting and performing at a Masquerade Charity Ball on 18th July at Middlesbrough Football Club in aid of 'Macmillan Nurses' & TM's 'Cash for Kids'. If anyone is interested in attending or would like further information, please contact Sarah on: sarahsiobhan84@yahoo.co.uk

I'm dusting off my trainers for an event at Dance City in Newcastle tomorrow, who knows who I might meet up with there...

Keep up to date
