Perhaps exercise should be prescribed for insomnia.

By Robert Weatherall on Feb 11, 09 10:48 AM

I am back in the swing of things. After my slight break from exercise due to a rather nasty infection in my foot I had my first work out last night and loved it.
I went to one of my two regular martial arts classes and spent 90 minutes getting thrown about and generally beaten up and tonight I am subjecting myself to more punishment.....

I had missed the buzz that comes with exercise. I don't know what the scientific terms are but whether it be endorphins or adrenaline or a combination of the two I walked out of my class feeling shattered but also fantastic. I also had one of my best nights sleep in a long time - perhaps exercise should be prescribed for insomnia.

So tonight, as long as it isn't chucking it down with hailstone or sleet (which the BBC weather centre is forecasting) I plan to go for a nine mile run.

This will be my longest run since starting my Flora London Marathon training campaign. I have been managing runs of about six miles up until now but with only two months and fourteen days to go until the big day I think I need to start stretching myself. I will also incorporate a few steep hills into the route to add to the challenge.

Every kind of insomnia sleep disorder can be cured through nutrition, cognitive therapy and exercise, or rehabilitative treatment. Simple lifestyle modification will go a long way. Avoid things like caffeine, beverages such as coffee, soda, etc, especially before bedtime. Now a new research shows that Cell Phones may also lead to insomnia, and Headaches. Try to avoid it. Further details you can read here Cell Phones Linked to Insomnia and Headaches

Insomnia can be a very debilitating condition but as Carol Brooks said, with the right treatment, insomnia can be cured. It's just a case of finding the right treatment for the right person.
