From Blogs to Books
I attended an excellent industry web based writing event at Durham Gala Theatre on 23 October which formed part of the New Writing North Regional Roadshow.
. The remaining dates for the Roadshow tour are as follows:
4 November 2008 - Seven Stories Centre, Newcastle - Writing for Children
6 November 2008 - Queen's Hall Arts Centre, Hexham - Getting Your Poetry Published
For further information visit the New Writing North website at: www.newwritingnorth.com
The roadshow events each have their own theme but follow the following format:
• professional development planning workshop in the morning
• lunch with an introduction to the Northern Writer's Awards and how to submit an entry
• an industry related Question and Answer session about writing and publishing
• one-to-one writing surgeries with New Writing North staff
The theme of the Durham event was web based writing and one of the topics up for discussion was 'Blogs to Books.' I was lucky to meet and chat with panellist Judith O'Reilly, a journalist and author who blogged her way to publication with 'Wife in the North. The hugely entertaining and sometimes sad story of Judith's move from London to rural Northumberland is now available in paperback.
I was absolutely delighted when she said she had heard of me and would add me to her Blogroll.
If there are any aspiring writers out there I can greatly recommend the Roadshow Events which prove invaluable for networking and sharing ideas.
