How to be Fresh to Death, my BFF

By Blog on the Box on Oct 22, 08 02:01 PM

Strops, tantrums, tempers. It's the usual day-to-day routine if you've got teenagers.
So why did they make a drama full of stroppy kids? ITV's Britannia High is full of snotty adolescents behaving like snotty adolescents. No thank you, you might say, got that at home.

The series, devised by that Arlene Philips woman from those dancing and talent (!) shows that are popular at the moment, is a celebration of charva-dom featuring kids at a drama school with massive egos getting their own way

Who's Who at Britannia High?

Claudine is a social butterfly. She loves being Miss Popular and holds the record for the most Facebook and Bebo friends in the school. She can be manipulative and will call anyone her BFF (best friend forever) to get what she wants. Fond of saying "fabulosity".

Danny is full of charm and charisma and is one of the lads - and he knows it. The arrgant llittle snotbag likes to think of himself as the Ronaldo of Britannia High but has the attention span of an amnesiac goldfish with attention-deficient problems.

Lola's ambition in life is to have her own spread in OK magazine. Fame for fame's sake, without earning it, in other words. I blame reality TV programmes for spawning people like Lola - some of them are not even fictional.

BB - short for B-Boy - considers himself to be the Jamie Foxx of Britannia High. He thinks of himself as
"fresh to death", keeping himself right at the forefront of the latest trends.

Parents will recognise the Britannia High pupils in their own offspring. Do you have a fabulosity kid, too arrogant for his own good, nothing between the ears, and who will spend your money on £100 trainers? You do? Then you probably already know all there is to know about Britannia High.
