Stopping even more junk mail

Get rid of even more junk mail before it arrives
When I last wrote about opting out of direct mail by using The Mail Preference Service I stated that it cannot stop unaddressed mail.
Well, there is a way you can.

But first some warnings:

1. By stopping unaddressed mail you might also stop free newspapers and material from the government, local authorities and utility companies coming through your letterbox. Election material does not use the Royal Mail door to door service so will get through.

2. You will still get mail addressed “To the occupier

3. You will still get direct mail addresses to you personally – unless you use The Mailing Preference Service to stop it.

4. You will have to contact each door-to-door agency that services your area including the Royal Mail, who deliver about 25% of all the door to door material.

5. It won’t stop the local pizza place sticking its menu through your door.

6. You are opting out for the address – so everyone in the whole house will be affected.

Still want to do it - here is how.

Opting out of Royal Mail door-to-door delivery.
Send or email your name and address to the address below:

Freepost RRBT-ZBXB-TTTS
Royal Mail Door to Door Opt Outs
Kingsmead House
Oxpens Road
OXFORD
OX1 1RX
or email: optout@royalmail.com

They will then send an opt-out form to your address, which you must sign and return. Once you’ve returned this form, Royal Mail will stop delivering unaddressed items to your address within 6 weeks.

To stop unaddressed material delivered by your local Newspaper.
Write to the publisher of your local free newspaper and ask them to cease delivering to your home. This will stop the delivery of the newspaper and any unaddressed items that are delivered with the paper.
